Regardless, they were able to force a 17th consecutive Test loss on the hosts, achieving a 3-0 series sweep. David Warner, in his final Test, ensured he made it a memorable occasion with a swashbuckling last-day counterattack that facilitated a quick run chase. Teammates Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne also made runs, though on a slow Sydney surface their form varied. This Test different to the bowlers, particularly Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, was a key factor in the victory. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc made a significant contribution to the team’s success. Usman Khawaja struggled to find form and made an average showing. Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith made runs but struggled to find their timing. Travis Head had a scratchy display with the bat, but was able to influence the game with the ball. Mitchell Marsh passed a different challenge and was still one of the premier contributors, and Alex Carey was exceptional with both the bat and the gloves. Mitchell Starc had some extraordinary moments but also allowed loose moments. Pat Cummins’s performance was top-notch, particularly in his captaincy.
